Well - I am a little biased - I think you should hire someone that is well versed in, and can help you with, the design process, from the start.. BUT - when do people who "just don't know" finally start to 'shop around'?

If you want the design done correctly the first time around (from the color scheme to the furniture pieces to the paint colors), the designer can make the process affordable and far less stressful. Still not convinced? Read on for the five reasons you might consider hiring a designer...

1. You want your space to reflect your lifestyle.

Functionality and aesthetic CAN, and should, come together when designing a space to fit your needs and your style. Each room should fill a practical purpose while knocking the socks off all who enter it.

2. You need a professional to bring it all together, or to assist you in getting the work done efficiently and beautifully.

Some people might worry that the designer will impose their own taste and style on a very personal project/space. Hopefully, you have never run into this - if you have - you may have hired the wrong designer. The best designer is one who is open to collaboration and HELPING the home owner, curating a vision that the client desires, not because 'the designer said so'.

3. You need a more creative and artistic vision.

A lot of people look to a designer because they have great ideas, but can't visualize the space. Designer can bring you renderings, mood boards, drawings and image reference along with paint, fabric and material samples to show you how all things will work.

together, creating a flow throughout the entire home.

4. Time saving and money saving

Some projects can have more layers than you can see on the surface, and each level/layer of the design can take different amounts of time to complete correctly. A designer can take care of a multitude of things behind the scenes, which will save you previous time and money (so you aren't buying the wrong can of paint multiple times and having to run back and forth to Home Depot every time you do so).

5. No one wants to 'mess up' and a designer can give you that extra bold confidence you may have not explored on your own.
